Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has announced another new LNG carrier order.

It said its Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries unit has signed a deal with an unnamed Asian company to build two ships of 174,000 cbm.

The contract is estimated at $370m, with delivery in mid-2021, the Yonhap news agency cited the company as saying.

Last week Greece’s Latsco Shipping made its debut in the LNG carrier sector with orders for two newbuildings at Samho.

Ordered via the owner’s Piraeus-based arm, Consolidated Marine Management (CMM), the two ships are costing a combined $370m.

HHI said that order took its haul for the year-to-date to $11.8bn, or around 90% of its $13.2bn annual order target.
