Norway's Kanfer Shipping has signed a cooperation deal for small-scale LNG projects with ADNOC shipping arm ADNOC Logistics & Services.
The two companies will "explore the small-scale LNG market," it said, including looking at transport, onshore and offshore storage, bunkering and other infrastructure.
"The parties are currently jointly developing several projects," Kanfer said.
It owns a design for a cost-efficient and flexible transport and floating storage solution that is based on articulated barges (ATBs).
Managing director Stig Hagen told TradeWinds: "The purpose is to have some sort of joint ownership with ADNOC and charter it to solid counter parties for longer periods."
Abu Dhabi's ADNOC L&S will have an influential role in the project and the commercialisation process, it added.
"The focus areas for this cooperation will be pure transportation, gas to power and bunkering projects."
Hagen said in a statement: “We are proud to have ADNOC onboard in this cooperation.
"We clearly see that large- and small-scale LNG goes hand in hand, and we believe there are considerable synergies that could be achieved between the parties. With ADNOC’s know-how, experience and interest in developing the small-scale LNG market, we are confident that we will be successful.”
Kanfer has previously identified projects in Asia, Europe and South America.
TradeWinds has reported that the ATBs consist of two ship-shaped barges and one pusher tug.
In May last year, it announced a new formalised agreement with Paschoalin Consultoria em Engenharia for developing small-scale LNG projects in Brazil.
