Many shipowners are fond of public-relations companies handling their dealings with the media.

But Qatari LNG carrier giant Nakilat has gone a step further by employing state-funded TV station Al Jazeera to collaborate on "strategic media campaigns" such as documentaries, television advertisements and training.

The deal is focused on domestic and international audiences, the owner said.

“Nakilat is proud to collaborate with an internationally renowned media network such as Al Jazeera," Nakilat chief administration officer Rashid Al-Marri said.

"This MOU [memorandum of understanding] is part of our ongoing efforts to promote our company as a global leader in energy and services. It not only reaffirms Nakilat’s commitment towards operational excellence, but also sustainable development of the community as espoused within Qatar National Vision 2030.”

The brief will test the creative minds at the TV station to the limit.

Car advertisers go to ridiculous lengths to jazz up what is essentially footage of a vehicle being driven along a road.

Let's see how shipping fares.

Precious cargo

Now for some heart-warming news in that well-worn genre known as "animal survives voyage in shipping container".

The creature in question this time is a kitten who was found in a box in Kansas City, which is a long way inland, so it is unclear where this journey originated.

Two other young felines died.

A worker at the Kansas City Pet Project said the container could have gone one or two weeks without being opened.

The survivor has been named Cargo.

Of course, if they would have found a person in there, they would have been given the name Illegal Immigrant.
