Sweden's Rederi AB Gotland has signed an LNG bunker contract for its new eco ro-pax.

Supplier Nauticor, formerly Bomin Linde, said it will fuel the company's first gas-powered ferry, Visborg, from this year.

The 35,000-gt ship is one of two being built in China at GSI.

“We are very happy that we have been able to win Destination Gotland, which is a highly professional operator of one of the largest LNG-fueled ferries in the world, as a customer," said Nauticor CEO Mahinde Abeynaike.

"Our new LNG bunker vessel will play an important role in developing a tailor made solution for Destination Gotland,"

Nauticor will cooperate with sister company AGA that operates the Linde group’s LNG terminal in Nynashamn.

"This marks an important step in the development of a stable supply of LNG for the shipping industry in North Sea and Baltic Sea,” added Abeynaike.
