Norgas Carriers, now owned by Norwegian investor Christen Sveaas, said funds are being prepared to settle an outstanding wage claim from crew on the arrested gas carriers Norgas Invention and Norgas Creation.

In an emotional email to TradeWinds a crew member called Maxim said more than 30 crew on the two gas carriers are still owned wages from September.

He said that crew on the ships were getting no response from the company and asked TradeWinds to help it secure the outstanding wages.

“We need to feed families and also pay mortgages and loans,” Maxim said.

“With your help we want justice. Their office is in Singapore, please visit them with an interview and publish.

"They just don't answer our questions, although other crews of other ships got paid,” he said.

According to AIS data the capacity 10,000-cbm capacity Norgas Creation (built 2008) is anchored near Huelva southern Spain, while the 10,000-cbm Norgas Invention (built 2011) is moored off Singapore.

Norgas spokesperson Bente Flo said that the crew had not been paid because of the arrest of the vessels by creditors.

But she said that funds are now being arranged for the outstanding wages to be paid.

Last month Norgas faced liquidation when a bank syndicate led by Nordea called for a $34.9m loan to be repaid.

Sveaas has come to the rescue taking 98% control of the company and installing key executives from his holding company Kistefos onto the Norgas board.
