A new face is set to take over the reins of Shell Marine on Tuesday as Houda Dabboussi is named president.
Shell Marine said Dabboussi will take over the role, currently held by Melissa Williams, on 1 October and be based in Houston, Texas.
The company said Dabboussi has been with Shell since 2014, joining in the Netherlands to work in mergers and acquisitions.
She also worked as global head of acquisition, divestments & new business development for its renewable energy solutions arm.
“Houda’s track record in integrated gas and commercial delivery, carbon capture storage, hydrogen and nature-based solutions deals will be instrumental in her new role,” Shell said.
“She is a passionate supporter of youth education, an active investor in start-ups, and committed to mentoring entrepreneurs.”
Shell Marine thanked Williams for her leadership and “how she has relentlessly championed urgent collaboration across the shipping industry to decarbonise”’
It also praised her “deft commercial acumen and people skills” showcased in the role.
Williams will now head Shell’s 750-strong trading operations products team, where she will be responsible for ensuring all oil products and chemical feedstocks are delivered to customers globally.
In an interview with TradeWinds last year, Williams called on the shipping industry to “pick up the pace” on decarbonisation and spoke about parking investment in ammonia as a fuel at that time due to the questions surrounding its safety.
