Finland's Wartsila has won clearance to build a liquid biogas (bioLNG) plant in Asker, Norway.
The contract was awarded in April last year by VEAS, a wastewater treatment and biogas producer.
The new facility will comprise a biogas upgrading and liquefaction plant.
Total output will be 20 tons of fuel per day.
This is Wartsila's third bioLNG plant in Norway, and its fifth globally.
“Efficiency and environmental sustainability are two of the main pillars of Wartsila’s strategy for future energy use,"said Arne Jakobsen, general manager of biogas liquefaction systems for Wartsila.
"This new plant represents both of these pillars, and we are proud to be partnering VEAS in this carbon-reducing project."
The plant should be operational in 2020.
