Legal and claims consultancy C Solutions Group has won a deal to manage Argo Singapore's marine claims run-off business.
As part of the agreement, claims specialist Meng Juan (MJ) Lim of Argo has joined C Solutions to manage the run-off portfolio to ensure a seamless transition, the group said.
Run-off insurance covers claims made against companies that have been acquired, merged or have ceased operations.
Lim has worked in marine claims since 2009, rising to a senior role at a leading general insurer and as the head of claims at a major Lloyd’s syndicate based in Singapore.
He has also worked for a Singapore branch office of a London headquartered claims consultancy company for more than eight years, handling complex hull and machinery and marine liability claims.
'Strong experience'
C Solutions said it has strong experience in run-off and outsource claims handling, having previously been appointed to manage a Lloyd’s syndicate run-off in London and Singapore.
The company, run by former Ince & Co shipping casualty head Chris Beesley, was brought in to provide a "cradle to grave" claims handling service for the syndicate's fixed premium P&I business.
C Solutions was set up in 2000 to advise on the full range of marine insurance (hull, liability, cargo), energy and other insurance claims and disputes.
In June, it teamed up with the West of England protection and indemnity club to form Qwest.
The club said it believed this was the first tie-up between a P&I insurer and a legal claims company.
Qwest will provide legal advice and fee cover structure for shipowners, operators and charterers, as well as specialist cover for shipmanagers that do not have access to the benefit of a shipowner’s defence cover.
