Hull and machinery underwriter Simon Stonehouse has joined insurer Coastal Marine Asia Holdings (CMA) as a company director.
CMA said the appointment is a strategic move “signalling the company’s commitment to strengthening and expanding its marine business lines”.
CMA specialises in brown water marine hull reinsurance.
Stonehouse has plenty of experience in the marine insurance business.
He was class hull and war underwriter at Brit Insurance for more than 40 years before joining Asia Capital Re in Singapore in 2015 as head of marine.
Since 2020, Stonehouse has been self-employed as a marine insurance consultant and from 2022 established his own business, SimonShip Solutions.
He is a prominent figure in the marine insurance industry and previously held roles with the Joint War Committee and International Union of Marine Insurance.
“His expertise, coupled with a legacy of mentorship and talent development, aligns seamlessly with the company’s vision for expanding its reach and fortifying its presence across the Asian and European markets,” CMA said.
CMA has been expanding its portfolio of global businesses recently.
Late last year it acquired LBY Reinsurance Brokers (Cyprus) Ltd and the company has been rebranded as Coastal Cyprus Insurance Brokers and Underwriters Ltd.
