Shipowner John Su has pulled off a tidy piece of business in the dry cargo sale-and-purchase market.
QC Shipping Investments, in which Su’s Erasmus is a partner, has sold the 72,900-dwt QC Athina (built 20000).
A price in the region of $7.3m has been paid for the ship, Su confirmed when contacted by TradeWinds.
The figure, which broking sources describe as firm in today’s market at a time when interest in dry bulk is warming, compares with the $6m the venture paid for the ship in April 2015.
It was purchased from fellow Greece-based owner Ocean Freighters as the Pontodamon and was one of two vessels in the fleet of QC Shipping Investments.
Su’s Erasmus has a further eight bulkers in its own fleet, which are worth a combined $104.05m, according to VesselsValue.
