German authorities seized cocaine with a street value nearing $1.1bn (€1bn) off a boxship in Hamburg in the largest drug seizure in the country's history.
The drugs were, according to media reports, stuffed into 4,200 packages, bundled into 211 sports bags and loaded into a container said to be containing soybeans.
The ship reportedly originated in Uruguay with the shipment destined for Antwerp.
"This outstanding success proves once again how powerfully German customs fight crime," said Rolf Bösinger, Germany's secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
The illicit cargo weighed a total of 4.5 tonnes, which could be tripled once cut for consumption.
The cocaine was seized two weeks ago, but authorities did not announce the record-breaking haul until Friday.
Authorities did not mention the name of the ship, its owner or any charges.
They did say the cocaine had been destroyed.
