Global law firm Ince has added valuable P&I and shipping experience with the recruitment of new partner and master mariner Martin Dalby.
The lawyer joins from Mills & Co, where he has worked since 2014.
He was at law firm HFW before that and has also worked at North of England P&I following 10 years at sea.
Dalby joined the marine team in London on 1 July.
Ince said he is "well known" and is a specialist in marine casualty work, as well as claims, in which his "strong technical background" is put to use.
Maritime still a 'cornerstone'
"Following several recent appointments, we have amassed a team of maritime lawyers that is able to offer an unparalleled breadth and depth of services to our international client base," Ince Group chief executive Adrian Biles said.
"As a master mariner and experienced lawyer, Martin will bring considerable expertise to our team. True to our heritage, the marine team will continue to be a cornerstone of our business, as we continue to grow across sectors and markets.”
Dalby added that he joins a firm that sets the standard for shipping law.
"It is a real draw for any lawyer to be able to work with such highly regarded colleagues and I look forward to bringing my expertise to the firm," he said.
In June, Ince added Stuart McAlpine from Clyde & Co as global head of marine projects.
This came after the London shipping team was boosted earlier in the year by the arrival of a number of fee earners and partners from the specialist shipping law firm Bentleys, Stokes and Lowless, which was taken over.
"I am delighted to welcome Martin as the latest lateral hire strengthening our marine group in London and internationally," Ince senior partner Julian Clark said.
"Having previously worked with Martin I personally know the depth of experience that he brings and the added value which he will bring to our team. I am delighted to see Ince forging forward in order to provide our clients with the very best level of expertise available."
