The head of Ince in Beijing is moving to lead the Singapore office’s China practice, as part of efforts by the law firm to strengthen its offering in Asia.

Wai Yue Loh, who is a partner at the firm, will help the growing number of Chinese businesses entering the Singapore market and vice-versa.

Loh is a litigator and specialises in shipping, commodities and energy disputes.

He is qualified to practice law in Singapore, England & Wales and Hong Kong, and plans to split his time between the Lion City and Beijing in his new position.

"Singapore has become an increasingly important hub to Chinese enterprises, and I’m excited to working with Devandran Karunakaran and his team in assisting our Chinese clients on all things Singapore, and also hope to be of service to the Singapore and international clients who may have China-related legal issues," Loh said.

Devandran Karunakaran, managing partner of the Singapore office, said Loh was "uniquely well versed in the business cultures and demands of both China and Singapore".

Gordon Dadds acquired Ince & Co's Beijing, Shanghai and London offices last year.

In late July, it was revealed that Gordon Dadds will pay over £6m less for the firm than the discounted figure it announced in January.
