Ince Group's Singapore unit Incisive Law is beefing up its admiralty practice with two new recruits.
Extra-master mariner Binoy Dubey is joining the law firm as admiralty manager from Reed Smith, where he held the same role.
He has extensive seagoing and onshore maritime and legal claims handling experience and is a recognised expert in ice navigation, Ince said.
Dubey has served time with Norwegian protection and indemnity club Skuld in Singapore, and also served as a master on Fednav bulkers between 2000 and 2003.
The lawyer has also developed specialist knowledge of the Indian market.
Ince announced its takeover of alliance partner Incisive Law in June. The move allowed Ince to offer advice on English as well as Singapore law.
The group said James Ng has also been recruited from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, where he was previously managing marine, emergency preparedness and security matters during an eight-year stint.
Ng joins as marine manager within the admiralty division.
Naval background
He began his career as an officer with the Republic of Singapore Navy.
Ng is the first Mandarin-speaking mariner in the 150 year history of Ince.
Incisive is also shaking up its management team in Singapore, the law firm said on Tuesday.
Kimarie Cheang moves up to become head of the company's China group, with Boaz Chan appointed as head of admiralty. Cheang became a partner in June.
Mohammad Haireez, promoted as a director in June, will become head of litigation and Wole Olufunwa is now head of the Africa group. Olufunwa was made partner at the same time as the promotions of Cheang and Haireez.
Bill Ricquier and Wai Yue Loh, joint managing directors of Incisive Law, added: "Rewarding well-deserved talent has always been a part of what we do as a firm and we believe these strategic roles will enhance our market-leading position in the legal services sector within their specialist practice group areas and clients could continue to benefit from our local and international offerings."
