Hill Dickinson has poached a new legal director and two new partners from rival firms, who will join its London and Singapore offices.

Kevin Austin is leaving Norton Rose to join his new employer's London office as a legal director.

Hill Dickinson said Austin is an experience master mariner and is well known in the London Hull Market.

The firm said making a "strategic rearrangement" to its mariner team, with Joe Quain set to return from Singapore to work as a consultant in London, while Ian MacLean is heading out to join the team in the Lion City.

“Hill Dickinson now has one of world’s most significant teams of master mariners, with eight spread across our global offices, meaning we are able to deal with casualties around the world as and when needed,” said Julian Clark, Hill Dickinson’s global head of shipping.

At the same time, South Korean market specialist Beth Bradley and transactional lawyer Sung Hwan Choi are joining Hill Dickinson as partners.

Bradley joins from Clyde & Co, where she was a legal director and worked on “numerous high-profile disputes and litigations”, her new employer said.

Sung Hwan Choi (known as SD Choi) will join Hill Dickinson’s Singapore office from Norton Rose, where he was of Counsel.

SD is dual qualified in England & Wales, the USA and the Marshall Islands.

“Beth’s appointment strengthens and develops our existing Korean team, both in London and Singapore, and we are delighted to welcome her onboard,” said Clark.

Hiring Choi, Clark said, “considerably strengthens our international transactional team, particularly following the recruitment last year of Jasel Chauhan and his team into our Athens office”.
