Lebanese shipping company Rana Maritime has incurred the wrath of Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry Co for allegedly failing to settle a repair bill in full.

The Chinese yard group arrested Rana’s 45,300-dwt bulk carrier MJ Bulker (built 1995) in Singapore late last week, claiming it was still owed $148,750 for work done on the vessel.

Rana Maritime acquired the ship as Glovis Master from Hyundai Glovis in January 2018 via a single-ship owning entity called Med Sea Inc.

The IHS Ships Register lists the company as controlling six-strong mixed fleet of elderly bulk carriers, general cargo ships and livestock carriers.

TradeWinds has reached out to Rana Maritime for comment.
