A court has evicted a sacked Shipping Corp of India (SCI) executive from company premises.

The state shipowner said "unauthorised occupant" Shri Raja Basu had been "compulsorily retired" from the company in May 2017.

This was due to unsatisfactory performance and departmental proceedings over unspecified issues, it added.

Since leaving SCI, Basu had been living without permission in temporary hostel accommodation provided by SCI at its MTI Powai campus.

But the High Court of Bombay ruled he could not stay there any longer, SCI said.

SCI had been granted an eviction order last August, but this was appealed by Basu at Bombay City Civil Court.

The appeal was dismissed this month and Basu was removed peacefully from the hostel on Thursday, SCI added.
