Law firm Stephenson Harwood has strengthened its marine and international trade practice with the addition of Ince & Co's Joe O'Keeffe as a partner in London.

O'Keeffe was previously Ince's global head of insurance.

With 27 years' experience, O'Keeffe is a well-known figure in the London market.

He has particular expertise advising insurers in relation to coverage issues, casualties and disputed claims arising in the marine and energy sectors, his new employer said.

O'Keeffe also has an established international trade practice, having acted for many years for commodity traders and banks as well as end-users across the full spectrum of advisory and disputes work.

“Marine insurance is a growing specialism of the firm,” said Mike Phillips, head of marine and international trade, Stephenson Harwood.

“Joe's experience complements that of the existing team, bolstering our expertise within both the wet marine casualty market and the energy sector.”

Alex Davis, head of marine insurance at Stephenson Harwood, added: “The marine insurance market has undergone significant changes over recent years; adding Joe’s practice to our current offering cements our position in the top tier of marine insurance coverage practices in the City, allowing us to thrive and grow in this changing landscape.”
