ExxonMobil is in talks with Qatar Petroleum about possible new deep gas exploration opportunities in the Persian Gulf state.
“We remain in constant communication with Qatar Petroleum around areas where we might be able to bring something of value, to contribute to things that would be of interest to us and to Qatar,” said the US supermajor’s chief executive Rex Tillerson.
Qatar Minister of Energy & Industry Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada confirmed the talks with ExxonMobil and added that new deep gas opportunities could be on offer.
- Qatar Petroleum and UK utility Centrica have forged a preliminary agreement to co-operate on energy investments that could include an LNG project.
