The Woodside-led partnership at the North West Shelf LNG project in Australia has sanctioned the A$2.5 billion (US$2.49 billion) first phase of the Greater Western Flank gas project.
The all-subsea development will involve the tie-in of more than a dozen fields to the existing Goodwyn A production platform off Western Australia.
It will help to maintain the North West Shelf Venture’s peak gas production, and keep all five of its LNG trains running at full speed, far beyond 2020.
Project start-up is planned in early 2016. Greater Western Flank contains about 3 trillion cubic feet of gas.
