GE Oil & Gas of Italy has landed contracts worth more than $1 billion from Inpex’s Ichthys LNG project off Australia.

The company will provide turbines and compressors for the new LNG plant near Darwin; for the project’s floating production, storage and offloading vessel; and for its central processing facility.

In addition, GE will supply subsea production systems and connectors for an 889-kilometre pipeline to shore.

The kit will be shipped by 2014.

Meanwhile, GE has launched its own micro-LNG concept. The aim is to produce between 20,000 and 150,000 tonnes per annum to power remote industrial and residential locations and fuel vehicles.
