Brazil’s Petrobras has leased two LNG carriers from Excelerate Energy. The 138,000-cbm Excelsior and Excalibur (both built 2002) will help the state-owned company transport and store LNG, and boost its role in the world LNG market, Reuters reported. Both vessels will allow Petrobras to ship 165.6 million cubic metres of gas to Brazil. The company currently operates two import terminals at Guanabara Bay near Rio de Janeiro and Pecem in the north. Construction of a third is under way at Todos os Santos, Bahia state.
