Hoegh LNG is competing on five floating storage and regasification unit projects as it focuses in on the regas sector.
The Norwegian outfit said in a results presentation this week it is “actively engaged in ongoing tender processes and one bilateral discussion for FSRU projects worldwide”, all of which are expected to lead to contract awards this year.
The company listed two opportunities in Chile, which are thought to be the GasAtacama and Colbun projects, an Indonesian venture understood to be Pertamina’s Central-East Java FSRU, another unnamed project in Asia, and a fifth in the Caribbean that observers identified as Jamaica’s planned floater.
In total, Hoegh said there are around 30 FSRU projects worldwide with 19 in Asia and the Middle East, five in South America and seven in the Europe and Africa region.
Hoegh priced the Medan LNG project for Perusahaan Gas Negara in Indonesia, for which it is providing the FSRU and offshore mooring, at $320 million to $330 million. Start-up is planned for September 2013.
In Lithuania, Hoegh is providing an FSRU with full trading capabilities for Klaipedos Nafta’s similarly priced import project. Start-up is scheduled for the third quarter of 2014.
Steel-cutting on the first of the FSRUs on order at Hyundai Heavy Industries is scheduled to start in July.
Hoegh is now marketing its third regas unit, which was recently confirmed at the yard for a second-quarter 2014 handover. The company has two priced vessel options with firm delivery dates and is also sitting on two further options at the yard whose terms remain to be negotiated.
