London-based manager and owner Navig8 Group has continued to build up its Suez8 suezmax pool with another Greek tanker.

The company said Avin International's 152,000-dwt Kriti Breeze (built 2003) has joined the operation this month.

The Vardinoyannis group company has 30 tankers, including three other suezmaxes.

This appears to be the first vessel that the Greek shipowner has placed with Navig8.

Avin also has two new suezmaxes due from Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea next year.

The deal brings the Suez8 pool to 19 ships.

Last week, Navig8 teamed up with Norway's Odfjell to launch a new pool for coated MR chemical tankers.

Rapid growth

The Suez8 pool has been growing quickly in the last year.

Greek owners Transmed Shipping and AllSeas Marine added two vessels in October.

These agreements followed a first pools agreement earlier that month with Spanish shipowner Ibaizabal Tankers.

Getxo-based Ibaizabal placed its 150,000-dwt suezmax Monte Toledo (built 2004) with Navig8.

The 19 Suez8 ships are built between 2001 and 2020 and all operate in the spot market.

In June, Navig8 confirmed it was taking over seven vessels controlled by Trafigura through a combination of pool membership and time charters.

The vessels were a VLCC, three suezmaxes, an aframax and two LR2s.

This deal was Navig8's biggest addition since the capture of eight Ridgebury Tankers suezmaxes last year.
