Axxis Geo Solutions (AGS) has announced its first major contract since taking over Songa Bulk's listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange in July.
SAExploration has awarded the Houston-based seismic ship operator a deal for ocean-bottom node (OBN) source work in Brazil with a minimum value of $4m.
The initial contract will have a minimum duration of three months, including vessel mobilisation and demobilisation, and is scheduled for completion in late September.
"This is a good example of how we are able to utilize our flexible asset-light operational model to provide fit-for-purpose solutions to our customers and partners," Lee Parker, AGS's chief executive, said in a release on Tuesday.
AGS's 65-metre seismic source vessel Neptune Naiad (built 2002) will reposition from the North Sea to commence OBN work in Brazil in October.
Another seismic survey vessel, the 81-metre Osprey Explorer (built 1985) has been mobilised to complete the ongoing OBN survey on Utsira in the North Sea.
The Osprey Explorer, which is owned by Cyprus-based Seabird Exploration, began its voyage from the US Gulf in early August and arrived at Bergen, Norway last Thursday, according to its AIS signals.
AGS and Songa Bulk announced a tie-up in April, which saw AGS investors take 96.6% of the shell company, which sold its bulker fleet to Star Bulk Carriers last year.
AGS's new listing became effective in early July.
