Royal Boskalis Westminster has maintained its outlook for 2016 after completing a third of its planned redundancies.
In a trading update the dredging giant said it has obtained a positive opinion from the Dutch Works Council and trade union CNV Waterbouw and has already axed 200 out of 650 jobs.
Its job reduction plans have been met with anger from the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and Nautilus International.
Boskalis added that it closed the third quarter with its revenue and profit developing in line with expectations.
Its orderbook increased by 8% to EUR 2.9bn ($3.15bn) while newly acquired VolkerWessels had a positive impact on its offshore business.
Despite the persistently difficult market conditions, Boskalis is projecting that operating net profit in the second half of the year will approach first half levels.
