Equinor has hired DeepOcean to install its new boosting station plus in-field structures and flexibles at the Vigdis offshore field in Norway.

The contract comprises project management, engineering and offshore installation activities, DeepOcean said on Friday.

The offshore work is scheduled for 2020 and will include rock removal, installation and tie-in of subsea lines and structures at the Vigdis and Snorre fields in the Norwegian North Sea.

"The project fits very well with our capabilities and construction vessel fleet, and we are pleased that Equinor again has trusted us with this exciting award," Rolf Ivar Sordal DeepOcean’s commercial director for subsea services, said.

Norway-based DeepOcean signed a framework contract with Equinor for subsea services in May 2018.

Equinor and its partners plan to invest NOK 1.4bn ($164.8m) in the boosting station, which will increase production at the Vigdis field by almost 11 million barrels.

The boosting station is expected to come online in the first quarter of 2021, Equinor said in December last year.

The Vigdis field has been producing oil through the Snorre field for more than two decades.

The value of DeepOcean's contract was not disclosed.
