French oil major Total awarded the consortium a major lump-sumcontract for part of the Kaombo project which is located in Block 32 offshoreAngola in water depths up to 2,000 meters.
Work covers engineering, procurement, construction,installation (EPCI) and pre-commissioning for the subsea umbilicals, risers andflowlines (SURF).
Installation activity is scheduled for 2016 and 2017 withthe bulk of the work carried out by Heerema’s deep water construction vessel Balder(built 1978) and Technip pipelayer Deep Blue (built 2001).
The operation will be supported by other vessels belongingto the French outfit.
Formed in October 2012, Technip owns a 55% share of the jointventure and Heerema holds 45%.
