Equinor Energy taken a platform supply vessel (PSV) owned by Eidesvik Offshore for a further six months.

The 6,200-dwt Viking Queen (built 2008) will commence the extension at the end of August in direct continuation of its current contract.

The Norwegian oil major fixed the vessel in late April for a firm period of four months with further options, but did not disclose the commercial terms.

Last week, Equinor extended its current charter of Eidesvik's PSV 6,200-dwt Viking Avant (built 2004) for three more years.

The vessel is to be retrofitted with batteries and a hybrid propulsion system.

Equinor is installing shore power supplies for its chartered PSV fleet, some of which will be fitted with battery systems.
