Russian energy giant Gazprom has contracted four new vessels at its part-owned Zvezda yard in the country's far east.
The company said it had signed a deal for ships to help its Arctic and continental exploration operations.
Three units will be anchor-handler supply vessels capable of towing and cargo delivery to production and drilling platforms.
There will also be a passengership to transport platform crews.
The vessels will be delivered between 2021 and 2024.
Subsidiary Gazprom Flot will act as the owner.
"The construction documentation was drawn up by Russian design contractors with due consideration for up-to-date requirements, providing for the maximum possible use of domestic components, equipment and materials," Gazprom said.
No price was named for the deals.
