Vard is again linking up with Navigare Capital Partners and Norwind Offshore on newbuildings.
The Norwegian shipbuilder announced on Tuesday that it had signed a deal to design and build a commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) for the Danish investor and its Norwegian shipowning affiliate.
The contract comes with two options. Navigare and Norwind can declare the first option this year and the second next year.
“Tailor-made to support offshore wind farm operations, this vessel will be the sixth CSOV that Vard has delivered to Norwind Offshore, in addition to an energy construction vessel and the conversion of a platform supply vessel … to a service operation vessel…” the shipbuilder said.
Construction will take place at Vard’s facility at Vung Tau, Vietnam.
The vessel will be based on the Vard 4 19 design and delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2027.
Norwind is a three-way tie-up between Navigare and the Farstad and Volstad families.
Navigare is backed by AP Moller-Maersk chairman Robert Maersk Uggla and J Lauritzen.
In August, Norwind affiliate Wind Energy Construction announced a deal with Vard to construct the energy construction vessel, hailed at the time by the shipowner as a new vessel category that would push forward the development of renewable energy.
It is set for delivery in 2027.
That deal followed one in March, again with Navigare leading the way, for the CSOV.
That agreement also comes with options for two additional vessels.
