Rem Offshore has lined up an order for a fifth commissioning service operations vessel.
The Fosnavag-based offshore player and Norwegian ship designer Vard announced a deal to build the diesel-electric speciality wind farm service vessel.
The ship will be built at Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam following similar agreements for two other CSOVs.
“Rem Power and Rem Wind have set a new standard with their innovative solutions, high performance and low emissions,” Rem chief executive Lars Conradi Andersen said, referring to the two vessels Vard delivered in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
“These ships were developed and built in close and good cooperation between us and Vard, and it is only natural for us to return to Vard when we now want to expand the fleet with a new CSOV.”
The ship, scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2026, will have cabins for up to 120 people.
“We are pleased to see Rem Offshore return to Vard for another contract and look forward to the good collaboration,” Vard chief executive Cathrine Marti said.
“Our strength is to deliver advanced and innovative vessels on time and within budget. This contract shows that we live up to our slogan, ‘built on trust’.”
The CSOV will be Rem’s 21st ship.
As it stands, the fleet sits at 19, with 13 platform supply vessels, a subsea construction vessel and a seismic vessel joining the four CSOVs.
The company’s 20th ship will be an offshore construction vessel currently under construction at the Myklebust Verft shipyard in central Norway.
That vessel is scheduled for delivery in mid-2026 and will have the capacity to run on methanol and batteries.
