Shearwater GeoServices is to conduct three 4D seismic surveys for Equinor this summer as part of a multi-project contract.
The company’s Isometrix crews will conduct surveys at the Kvitebjorn & Valemon and Visund fields in Norwegian waters of the North Sea, and at the Snohvit field in the Barents Sea.
The surveys will be conducted by Shearwater's seismic survey vessels Amazon Conqueror (built 2015) and SW Amundsen.
The three-month-long project will commence in the second quarter, according to an exchange filing from Shearwater’s 20% shareholder GC Rieber Shipping.
"We see a clear increase in activity in the 4D market in 2019, and we are very pleased to see a leading purchaser of 4D seismic choosing Shearwater's Isometrix technology for their 4D surveys," Irene Waage Basili, chief executive of Shearwater GeoServices.
Including this new deal, Shearwater has this month been awarded contracts for seven 4D ocean-bottom node seismic surveys, of which six will be performed in 2019.
In early February, Equinor awarded Shearwater a one-month survey of the Gullfaks field in Norway, with start-up in the third quarter.
Around the same time, the company also won a multi-year contract from Aker BP, of which the first three surveys will be conducted at the Frosk, Ivar Aasen and Valhall fields, starting in the second quarter.
