Prysmian Powerlink has extended its contract on a construction support vessel (CSV) owned by Solstad Offshore by another two years.
The 6,700-dwt Normand Pacific (built 2010) will continue working for the subsea power cable company until 31 December 2021.
Prysmian has the option to extend the contract by an additional three years.
Normand Pacific has been employed by Prysmian since August 2016.
Solstad did not disclose the value of its latest contract extension.
AIS tracking data shows Normand Pacific has been performing subsea work as part of the IFA2 project in the English Channel during the past four weeks.
Prysmian is undertaking the contract to design, manufacture and install cabling for the IFA2 inter-connector, which will connect the electricity systems of the UK and France using high-voltage direct current cables laid beneath the Channel.
The contract was awarded in 2017 by the UK's National Grid and RTE, its French counterpart.
Meanwhile, Solstad won more time in June to agree a refinancing deal with its creditors.
The offshore support vessel owner, backed by John Fredriksen and Kjell Inge Rokke, extended a debt payment suspension and deferral agreement to 31 October, from 20 June previously.
