Solstad Maritime has sold two of its smallest, laid-up anchor-handling tug supply vessels, netting NOK 75m ($7.1m) in the process.
The Kjell Inge Rokke-backed company said on Friday that it offloaded the 15,950-bhp Far Scimitar (built 2008) and the 16,175-bhp Far Sound (built 2007) to an undisclosed buyer.
It said the gain on sale would be reflected in the first-quarter earnings, which it will report next week.
“The vessels have been in layup in Asia since 2016 and 2018,” Solstad Maritime said. “Delivery of the vessels to the new owner took place today, February 23, 2024.”
A buyer was not disclosed.
VesselsValue estimates the Far Scimitar is worth $17.3m and the Far Sound $15.5m.
Solstad Maritime made similar moves last year, first selling the 15,953-bhp Far Sabre (built 2008) in March, then the 12,240-bhp Elang Laut 1 (built 2009) in July.
Both ships had spent several years in layup before the sale.
Solstad Maritime also sold its entire fleet of platform supply vessels to US owner Tidewater last year, a move to cut its debt and to dispose of assets that can only work in the oil and gas sector.
Later in the year, Rokke took control of the company in a refinancing deal that saw Solstad Offshore left with a 27% holding in a new outfit, Solstad Maritime.
The move leaves Solstad Maritime with 14 AHTS vessels.
The company continues to be traded on the Oslo Bors, where its shares gained NOK 0.08 from the previous close to finish the week at NOK 34.24.
