The offshore wing of Rederi AB TransAtlantic signed a deal inMarch 2013 to keep the 210-tbp Tor Viking (built 2000) busy throughout the summer seasonsof 2014 and 2015 seasons with options for 2016 and 2017.

Each season lasts for seven months from 1 May of each yearbut the charterer has cancelled the 2014 drilling season, Viking Supply saidwithout giving any reason.

The firm period of the contract which covers specialised icemanagement services in sub-Arctic operations was worth $36.5m.

Viking said the charterer will pay a compensation fee thoughit did not disclose how much..

Currently the contract is still valid for 2015.
