Chile’s Asenav shipyard has won a deal to build a cruiseship for Cruceros Australis.

Late Cruise News reported that the cruise line, which operates in Patagonia, the Chilean fjords and Tierra del Fuego, is replacing the 2,700-gt Via Australis (built 2005), which was sold to Lindblad.

Cruceros is temporarily down to one ship, which Asenav also constructed.

The new vessel will be a streamlined, modern cruiseship, it said.

Asenav is also building a small Great Lakes car ferry for the Ontario government, for delivery in 2018.

Cruceros Australis is part of Chile’s Comapa Group, which also includes Navimag Ferries.
