Genting Hong Kong founder Colin Au has returned in a permanent role.
He has recently been working as an advisor for the expanding cruiseship and shipyard company, but has now been appointed group president with immediate effect.
Au joined the Genting Group 38 years ago. He was the founding president and CEO of Genting Hong Kong in 1993, introducing cruising in Asia.
In recent months, the company has bought shipyards in Germany, now known as MV Werften, and Crystal Cruises in 2015.
Chairman Lim Kok Thay, who remains as CEO, said: “With the quantum leap in size of the company, we are pleased to appoint Mr Au...to provide the leadership moving forward.
"He will focus his attention on Genting Cruise Lines, MV Werften, the German shipyard group and other assets of the company.”
Au added: “I look forward to providing leadership in this phase of rapid asset growth and overseeing MV Werften, which will provide the company with the competitive edge in building new large cruise ships, with the first 200,000-gt Global Class ships by 2020, without relying on the limited number of European cruise shipyards which currently have a 10-year orderbook, a historic high.”
Another appointment sees Kent Zhu become president of Genting Cruise Lines (GCL) from May.
GCL is a new division bringing together the three cruise brands of Star Cruises, Dream Cruises and Crystal.
Zhu has been recruited from Wanda Hotels & Resorts, where he is executive vice president.
