Two ro-paxes built by Cochin Shipyard in India have not yet been deployed due to infrastructure work.

The Hindu daily reported that the 150-gt ferries, costing INR 38m ($0.58m) each, have not yet been used between Vypeen and Fort Kochi, despite the current elderly vessel being withdrawn from service in a row over payments.

As a result, Kochi Corporation has not taken official delivery of the vessels and has not paid the final instalment.

The corporation has blamed a delay in the construction of landing terminals at Vypeen and Fort Kochi.

It ordered the two vessels in March 2015 and they were finished last July.
