A plan is being hatched to station a cruiseship in Maine to house the homeless.
The Portland Press Herald reported that non-profit organisation Memory Works' founding director Kenneth Capron is to discuss the permanent mooring plan with potential stakeholders at Portland City Hall.
Capron said a converted ship could also provide affordable immigrant housing.
According to Capron, a used cruiseship will cost anywhere from $5m to $100m.
He plans to apply for a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to conduct a feasibility study.
