Genting Hong Kong's Crystal Cruises has reduced the size of three planned cruiseship newbuildings.
New CEO Thomas Wolber told Travel Weekly the trio will now be in the 60,000 gt to 65,000 gt size range, from 100,000 gt previously.
This will allow it to accommodate fewer passengers - 800 against 1,000 - but boost its "impeccable service," he added.
The owner has also scrapped plans for 48 super-luxury private apartments on the top deck of each vessel.
“The delivery of the service is what Crystal is known for," Wolber said.
“To be able to continue that, I think we need to take a step back and focus on the size of the ship.”
The first of the three vessels is due from Lloyd Werft in Germany in 2022.
Three expedition ship are also being built at Stralsund in Germany for delivery in 2020 and 2021.
