Australian transport minister Andrew Constance is to rename a vessel called Ferry McFerryface.
The ferry will be known as May Gibbs from now on, ABC reported.
Gibbs is a popular children's author and illustrator.
The original name was supposedly chosen as a result of a national poll.
But Australian media have claimed it was not even in the top six.
"The name comes from the first open call for public nominations where [people] could vote for any name," the government said.
Last year, Constance admitted that Ferry McFerryface was not the most popular choice, with the most votes going to the name Boaty McBoatface, which won a poll in the UK to name a research ship that was eventually named after naturalist Sir David Attenborough.
Last year, Sydney Ferries workers refused to serve on the ship due to its name.
