Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven has signed a contract with German yard partner Lurssen to build a large expedition yacht.
The 100-metre Explorer ship is to be constructed, partly outfitted and technically finalised at Kleven Verft in Norway, before final outfitting at Lurssen’s Blohm+Voss facility in Hamburg, Germany, Kleven said.
The client has not been revealed.
"We are proud to announce this first result of the cooperation between Kleven and Lurssen,” said Stale Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven.
"With their more than 140 years of history in the luxury yacht business, Lurssen is unrivalled in its experience and knowledge, and we are proud of the fact that they have chosen Kleven as their long-term partner."
"We hope this is the first of many vessels being built in this partnership."
TradeWinds reported in September that Lurrsen was being brought in to invest in the company and form a long-term strategic partnership.
