North Korea wants overseas investors for a cruiseship project.

A vessel will be allowed to operate a casino on board, according to the Yonhap news agency.

The scheme would link its eastern mountain resort area with Russia's far east port of Vladivostok and South-east Asia on two routes.

South Korean cruises to the North were cancelled in 2008 after a North Korean soldier killed a South Korean, the report said.

North Korea has said a foreign company or consortium would be entitled to operate a tourist ship by putting in between $10m and $20m.

A North Korean website cited by Yonhap said the country wants to broaden and diversify international tourism connected to the region.
