P&O Ferries of the UK has chartered in a vehicles carrier after one of its ro-paxes encountered technical problems.

The company has brought in the 1,525-car Auto Bay (built 1997) from Bore of Finland.

The ship will carry freight between Hull and Zeebrugge, the Hull Daily Mail said.

The 1,138-passenger Pride of Bruges (built 1987) will need repairs until 5 June.

Another P&O ferry on the route will operate as normal.
