Princess Cruises may have fallen under Cupid’s spell as the Carnival brand is celebrating Romance Awareness Month with a bouquet of romantic notions throughout August.
The owner of the Pacific Princess — the now-scrapped ship made famous by “The Love Boat” TV series of the 1970s and 1980s — is helping couples plan their weddings and honeymoons with a gift registry app and online wedding planner.
The cruise line, which was the first to offer weddings at sea, is also holding “Set Sail for Effy’s Romance Sweepstakes” for the entire month, giving participants a chance to win a Caribbean cruise for two and Effy jewellery.
“Weddings, honeymoons and vow renewals are among the top celebrations that take place onboard in the shops of Princess [cruiseships],” said celebration ambassador and Love Boat star Jill Whelan.
“A cruise provides the ideal setting to connect with the one you love.”
Out of Princess Cruises’ 380 destinations worldwide, 55% of 1,000 US adults polled by Wakefield Research chose the Caribbean as their top wedding destination.
Wedding website
Princess Cruises’ gift registry app enables couples to create a honeymoon website, where they can add gift items, send out RSVPs and upload photos.
It also features a blog, online photo album and enables guests to gift money to a couple to spend on their cruise, rather than traditional items.
The planning tool streamlines the process for both a Princess Cruises wedding and reception, allowing couples to buy packages online.
The platform also provides guidance through various web-based tools and a personal wedding coordinator.
