The hunt is on! Royal Caribbean International has launched an app that will turn the city-state of Singapore into an island-wide treasure hunt.

The cruise line, the flagship brand of Royal Caribbean Cruises, is offering prizes including voyages to players of the Royal Hunt.

The game, which must be downloaded on a smartphone, sends players on a treasure hunt to find "golden anchors" at 20 MRT transit stations around Singapore.

The anchors can be collected by scanning the QR code in adverts at five of the stations. Players who complete the scorecard are then offered a random sixth station.

"This game is really quick and easy to play and it’ll be doubly fun to get one’s friends and family to join in and compete with one another in getting all the six golden anchors first," said Sean Treacy, Royal Caribbean Cruises' managing director for Asia Pacific.

"That’s how we thank our fans for their strong support for our cruises and delight them with this big bundle of exciting giveaways."

Prizes include food, drink and cruise vouchers. Also, 300 players will receive a limited edition 24-carat gold Royal Caribbean medallion — which is surely on every Singapore resident's wish list.

But Royal Caribbean will also hold a grand draw to pick nine winners to receive a four-night South East Asia cruise on the 3,110-berth Voyager of the Seas (built 1999).

The top prize is a cruise on the 5,400-berth newbuilding Symphony of the Seas.

The game runs until 20 March.

Happy hunting!
