New Samoan cruiseship recruits have been warned to avoid the distractions of the western world as they prepared to leave the island.
Radio New Zealand reported acting prime minister Papalii Niko Lee Hang as giving the advice to a group 39 young seafarers from the Samoa Marine Training Institute.
He also encouraged the crew to work hard.
About 300 cadets have so far been recruited into the burgeoning cruiseship sector, and some have been sent home in the past, the report said.
