US owner SunStone Ships has signed a second cruiseship design and equipment contract with Ulstein Design & Solutions of Norway.

The first contract for an X-Bow expedition vessel was inked last year, with options for nine more.

The initial ship, called Greg Mortimer, is well underway at China Merchants Heavy Industry in China for delivery in the fourth quarter of next year.

SunStone has firmed up another three newbuilding contracts with the yard.

The first two have been chartered by the Australian Aurora Expeditions. The second is due in August 2020.

“We decided to partner up with Ulstein due to their hull and the technical design, as well as their site team in China to supervise the production,” said Niels-Erik Lund, president/CEO of SunStone Ships at the time of the first deal.

"These hulls have been developed for rough weather, high comfort and great fuel efficiency.”

The Infinity Class ships have a passenger capacity of between 130 and 200.
