Turkey's Tersan Shipyard has confirmed an order from Havila Kystruten for two new ferries.

The 120-metre vessels will be delivered by the end of 2020 for a January 2021 debut in Norway.

They are part of Havila’s contract with the Norwegian ministry of transport for a coastal route.

The ships are designed by Havila Design and Solutions and powered by LNG and batteries.

Havila Holding set up Havila Kystruten this year to operate coastal ships between Bergen and Kirkenes.

Two other new vessels have been ordered at the Barreras yard in Spain.

The price has been put at a possible NOK 1bn ($123m) each.
